    Economic Education

In the area of Economic Education, ARDS is working towards giving Indigineous people a direct understanding of how the economy works in order to empower them to operate effectively within it. In doing this, we seek to dispel many of the myths associated with where money comes from. Many misconceptions are borne out of systematic failure to educate people effectively in this area. For instance, many people have the conception that money simply comes from the government who prints it, and there is much confusion about the nature of the market economy.

Through teaching people the underlying principles of the economy, such as the Reserve Bank and the concept of trade, we are seeking to allow indigenous people to become empowered to effectively run their own businesses and be fully engaged in the market economy. Central to teaching in this area is looking at the similarities between the traditional culture of trade the Indigineous people had, and relating this to the modern world.
