    ARDS has recently produced a website for interpretation of legal concepts into the Yolngu Matha language. This site is designed for Yolngu people to clear up confusion around a number of legal terms. Click on the image below to access this site:

    A number of other sources for language resources exist. Some cater for the Yolngu Matha languages of north- east Arnhem Land and others for languages in other places throughout the top end of the Northern Territory.

    ARDS has a strong working relationship with the Aboriginal Interpreter Service, assisting them through our field educators at the Royal Darwin Hospital and courts in Darwin

    Institute for Aboriginal Development (IAD Press)

    IAD Press publishes language dictionaries in NSW Aboriginal languages, as well as many of the Central Australian Aboriginal languages, including in picture dictionary form.

    Katherine Region Aboriginal Language Centre

    The KRAL centre provide a Kriol and Warlpiri interpreting service, and also work on documenting traditional languages of the region and on language maintenance and revitilisation projects (particularly in schools) and on producing oral histories and cultural books and videos in language.
    There are more than 30 traditional languages in the Katherine Region.
    Linguists based in Katherine and at our Ngukurr annexe currently work with Ngarinyman, Jaminjung-Ngaliwurru, Bilinarra, Mangarrai, Marra, Rembarrnga, Mayali, Nunggubuyu, Alawa and Ngandi languages.

    The Federation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Languages is the national body for community based Indigenous language programs in Australia. The organisation was established in 1991 in response to the Australian Language and Literacy Policy, to promote the maintenance, retrieval and revival of Indigenous languages, through the support of community based language programs
