Health Related Projects Below are a list of current projects we are undertaking in the area of Health education: HIV/AIDS Education Education for HIV/AIDS is continuing through funds granted by Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (OATSIH) under the HIV/AIDS Education Project. This education seeks to redress some of the problems or misconception caused by previous Education attempts in this area. Click here for a story of our HIV/AIDS education in action. Diabetes EducationARDS maintains that people need good quality explanations for the health problems that they are facing so that they can take control of the problems and deal with them effectively. We offer here a summary of our HEALTH EDUCATION MODEL which discusses our methodology with reference to Diabetes Education. (Download as PDF)Microscope LiteracyARDS uses microscopes in a classroom or one-on one situation to explain the concepts of germ theory, essential to giving people an understanding of the germs and microscopic organisms which lie at the cause of many forms of disease. Click here for more information on our Microscope Literacy education. Strongyloides ARDS is seeking to educate people and raise awareness of Strongyloides, which is a tiny parasitic worm. Strongyloidiasis is caused by infection with enteric threadworms, Strongyloidiasis causes significant ill health for extended periods of time, and is the cause of death in a smaller number of cases. A partnership between MiWATJ health, The Top End Division of General Practice and ARDS saw the development of an educational flip chart. ARDS has also developed an educational video on the subject.
