ARDS has established a Yolngu Radio Service to meet the information access, self-learning and adult education needs of the Yolngu people of north-east Arnhem Land. This service has been developed through the provision of grants obtained through various government departments and charitable donations. Click Here for a list of our sponsors. Yolngu Radio is now broadcasting on 1530 AM in Darwin and Palmerston. There are plans to expand our coverage across the north-east Arnhem Land Region. Yolngu Radio can also be received Australia wide via a free-to-air signal on the Aurora satellite platform. Click here for info on how to receive Yolngu Radio via satellite.
Download Frequently Asked Questions PDF At present the contemporary media and education services are failing the people, mainly because they do not communicate in the language of the people, they do not work from the people's cultural knowledge base and they are not addressing the questions that the people themselves want answered. This is what the Yolngu Radio Service aims to do. Explanation of the aims and outcomes of the radio service can be found in the links on the left of this page. If you are able to help in any way, please visit our support page |
