ARDS has established a Yolngu Radio Service to meet the information access, self-learning and adult education needs of the Yolngu people of north-east Arnhem Land. This service has been developed through the provision of grants obtained through various government departments and charitable donations. Click Here for a list of our sponsors. Yolngu Radio is now broadcasting on 1530 AM in Darwin and Palmerston and was launched in November 2006. Our coverage also extends to communities across the How to get your message on Yolngu Radio At present the contemporary media and education services are failing the people, mainly because they do not communicate in the language of the people, they do not work from the people's cultural knowledge base and they are not addressing the questions that the people themselves want answered.This is what the Yolngu Radio Service aims to do. 30.7.2010. Banthula and Mapuru homelands added as the latest additions to the Yolngu Radio network ARDS have partnered with Laynhapuy Homelands Health to provide Yolngu Radio in six of their homeland communities. The photo below shows the installation at Gurrumurru which was commissioned in January 2008.
