    Supporting the Radio Service

Yolngu Radio is a community development radio service, providing news, education, information programs and local traditional and contemporary music to the Yolngu people of north-east Arnhem Land, in the language of the people (Yolngu Matha).

Yolngu Radio began in north-east Arnhem Land through a Short Wave (HF) service in August 2003. Since May 2004 it has been on air in Darwin on AM 1530. It is now heard in all six major communities in north-east Arnhem Land, as well as up to 20 surrounding homeland centres via various FM frequencies that have come on air progressively since early 2005. We are also now streaming live via our website.
