Projects Following are a number of ARDS projects currently in need of funding to assist in their ongoing development: Yolngu Radio Funds are sought for Yolngu Radio in the areas of program development and infrastructure support. Yolngu Radio is currently broadcasting educational programs on Health, Economics, Law and Governance issues in the Yolngu Matha language. DVD Production ARDS is developing a number of DVD projects to assist in its education strategy. These include educational DVDs for Yolngu and dominant culture people aimed at increasing cross-cultural understanding. DVD productions are also underway to record traditional knowledge. Dictionary Project If we are to address the critical issues of deteriorating health and failing education for Yolngu people in Arnhem Land, then we need to be serious about the requirement to engage in effective communication. Therefore a range of health, economics, and legal English – Yolngu Matha dictionaries are a necessary communication tool that will enable Yolngu people to access basic information about contemporary Australian society. Cultural Intellectual Recording & Archiving This service will allow the recording and archiving of traditional cultural material across a whole range of subjects and areas. Of particular significance will be conservation of flora and fauna, oral history, economic material regarding the production and trade of traditional items, traditional health care and prevention, instructional song-cycles, bedtime stories, proverbs, information regarding legal structures within Yolngu society and also the academic language covering all the concept language.
