About the project.

In 2013, ARDS was contracted by Motivation Australia to undertake community research into Yolŋu (Yolngu) understanding of impairment and disability. Community research forums were held throughout northeast Arnhem Land. Our cross-cultural facilitators and language consultants facilitated discussions around people’s experience with disability and their approach to supporting family members with disabilities. The research also focused on how mainstream services can be directed to help communities and families in the most beneficial way. Through the work of Motivation Australia, the outcomes of the research contributed to improved service delivery in Arnhem Land.
